Sustainable Application of ZIF-8 for Heavy-Metal Removal in Aqueous Solutions

Water is life, and clean-water demand increasing daily as a result of rapid population growth industrial evolution. Nevertheless, due to the inadequate supply availability new water sources, there need for effective, sustainable removal contaminants wastewater reuse. Several treatment approaches that include chemical, physical, biological methods have been thoroughly tested, with being regarded most cost-effective environmentally friendly method. However, presence heavy metals complicated chemicals are nonbiodegradable limits use this approach. In paper, we review application cheap, water-stable metal-organic framework, zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8), an easier synthesis approach heavy-metal in aqueous solutions. review, discuss efficiency terms adsorption capacity, describe underlying mechanism behind capacity ZIF-8, present approach, make vital suggestions aid future ZIF-8 metals.
